Edisi Bola : Demba Ba. Permata Baru Muslim Di EPL.

Newcastle United's Demba Ba's destroys Blackburn Rovers with a hat-trick

Demba Ba is obviously a man who enjoys his food. Drained and lethargic during his fasting for Ramadan, Ba had sleepwalked his way through the start of his Newcastle United career.

Religious duty fulfilled, Ba is eating freely again and the benefits are obvious. No goals in five appearances, the summer arrival from West Ham grabbed three in a little over half an hour on his sixth as Newcastle UnitedBlackburn Rovers 3-1.

Ba’s discipline of faith is a reminder some things are more important than scoring a Premier League hat-trick. Then again, Ba could argue his success is proof God rewards the faithful for their sacrifices.

When Newcastle fans conjured up an image of Andy Carroll’s replacement, Ba wasn’t it, yet both he and Leon Best are relishing the opportunity to show the failure to sign another striker was not the disaster it seemed.

Both have now scored three this season and Best should have added to his tally. He caused the Blackburn defence constant problems with his movement and touch, even if his shooting was not as sure as the approach play.

As for Ba, hauled off at half-time on his debut against Arsenal back in August, he looks a completely different player with his belly full.

“Sometimes it [fasting] doesn’t affect you at all,” said Ba. “Sometimes you start feeling a bit tired. But it is not something that is new to me — I have been doing this for a long time.

“It is something that is very important to me. My faith is where I get my confidence and energy from. I will not quit doing this because I can’t.”

This was Newcastle’s best performance of an encouraging start to the season, combining attacking flair with defensive solidity, despite a brief wobble either side of half-time.

Pardew’s side are unbeaten in eight games and will be confident of progressing further in the Carling Cup given they be facing Rovers again in the next round. “I haven’t actually directly laid down a challenge to my strikers,” said Newcastle’s manager.

“But if you’re a player at a football club and you read about new signings, it does raise your game. It hurts you into proving people wrong.”

Not that they will face opposition playing so badly every week. Although Steve Kean complained about Newcastle’s third goal, pushing the view that Best fouled Scott Dann as he tried to head Ba’s looping header off the line, the scoreline did not do justice to Newcastle’s dominance, especially after defender Martin Olsson’s sending off for a second bookable offence.

Ba opened the scoring with a sharp turn and shot from Best’s cross, before heading in from close range as Blackburn’s defence failed to deal with Steven Taylor’s powerful header back across goal.

His third, after David Hoilett had netted Blackburn’s only clear opening in the first half, came from Cheik Tiote’s cross early in the second half.

Bukan player bola tapi ahli gusti atas katil.
